
The Ruby Gaea community education team provides Sexual Assault Prevention Education (SAPE) to a wide range of audiences including high school students, educators, nurses, police, volunteers, generalist counsellors and GPs to name a few.
Ruby Gaea offers a range of sexual assault information sessions and SAPE programs ranging in duration from two hours to six weekly sessions of 1.5 hours per session. These include introductory sessions that touch on definitions of sexual assault and related issues; Ruby Gaea's service; Mentors in Violence Prevention; and the Sexual Assault Prevention Program in Secondary Schools, developed by Centre Against Sexual Assault, Victoria http://www.thewomens.org.au/casahousesappssreport
The aim of all the programs is to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills in participants to reduce sexual assault, promote appropriate responses to disclosures of sexual assault and increase community knowledge of services available to survivors and their supporters.
